Building upon the Primary Colours movement, this symposium is an initiative envisioned by foundational dub poet, educator and community builder, Lillian Allen. The summit is driven by the question: How can we change the Canadian arts ecology to support and lift up the work and careers of BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of colour) artists? The summit and following events will bring together longstanding and up-and-coming movers and shakers in the Canadian and Turtle Island spoken word communities to discuss, design, and strategize for the future of spoken word for BIPOC artists.
