Centre for Women and Trans People at the University of Toronto - Room 100
After a long process of revitalization, the Dr. Chun Resource Library was resurrected from the grave (muahahaha!) earlier this year. The Dr. Chun Resource Library exists as a space for community members and students to access factual, critical, and alternative materials that facilitate resistance to oppression among and between communities that have traditionally been left out of mainstream spaces. We are committed to supporting people with identities and lived experiences that are under-served by conventional libraries and strive to provide a safer space where such individuals are not only visible, but celebrated in various forms of media and programming.
We want to celebrate the new life of the Library by hosting Halloween storytelling night centering the storytelling traditions of BIPOC and 2SLGBTQQIAA communities at the Library. This is an eeeeexcellent opportunity for you to sign your soul away and become a new member of the library allowing you access to dust off volumes of rare and locally produced books and zines in your quest to find that perfect feminist horror story or spooky BIPOC centred film!
This event prioritizes QT and BIPOC communities so while we encourage folks to dress up and flaunt their Halloween fashion, we ask folks to be mindful, remember, cultures aren't costumes! There will be light food and snacks, and ample popcorn. We will have several very special guests, more details will be posted as things are confirmed!
