Returning for the scare season is HYP's Halloween Story Slam! This month, we challenge you to bring forth your best Halloween stories. Tell us about past mishaps, ghostly encounters, Ouija board, and nights gone terrifyingly wrong. A story slam is not slam poetry! A story slam is the art of competitive storytelling. On this night, we plead you leave the politics in your pocket, and bars in your bedroom. You must craft an original story based on an event in your life, and present it to an audience. Some methods of retelling stories include but are not limited to first-person narrative, second person, “a dear diary” narrative and others.

Storytellers have four minutes and ten seconds to present their best stories based around the night’s theme and may use a variety literary and theatrical devices necessary to sway a panel of five judges. You will be judged by a panel of five judges, on a scale from 0-10, based on presentation and content of the story. All works must be original. PS, The evening will be recorded as a take-home treat!
