Buddies In Bad Times Theatre
Join us for another night of poetry slam and open mic talents. Bring your art! Join our wonderful audience and see some of the best 2SLGBTQPIA+ poets around. In our 5th season we are proud to be offering our season winner a chance to represent HDQS at the national individual competition, Verses Festival. We have 2 round poetry slam competitions all over Southern Ontario.
Our Feature is our champion from last year's slam, the multitalented Wes Ryan!
Wes Ryan is a genre-mashing performance artist, poet, playwright, choreographer and visual artist living in Nogojiwanong / Peterborough. An aspiring (if late) academic, they often disrupt conferences with lived experience and create pop-up installations in public arenas. As the Artistic Director of These Are Horizon Days, an integrated, accessible, and inclusive performing arts company, Wes is dedicated to creating opportunities for people with disabilities to explore creative arts. Winner of Hot Damn It’s A Queer Slam (2019) and Urban Legends Invitational (2016), they were also Peterboough Poetry Slam Champion (2013-2015) and have featured on stages across Ontario. Once described as, “A hand-grenade in your fruit salad”, Wes is excited to bring some sweet explosion to Hot Damn It’s a Queer Slam in November.
